Common appointment questions
Find practical information about referrals, fees, appointment timing, driving and aftercare. If you need help with your booking or have a question about your eye care, please contact our clinic.
What to expect from specialist eye care
We provide referral-based specialist ophthalmic care for patients from metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Your appointment may involve a detailed eye examination, clinical testing, discussion of your diagnosis and advice on treatment options where clinically appropriate.
Patients are commonly referred for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, retinal concerns, corneal conditions and eyelid problems. You can explore our full range of ophthalmology services or learn more about our surgeons before your visit.
We aim to explain findings clearly, communicate with your referring GP or optometrist, and help you understand the next step in your care. If you are unsure whether your referral has been received or what to bring, please contact our team before attending.
Bring the right information with you
Please bring your current Medicare card, pension card if applicable, Health Care card if applicable, private insurance card if applicable, a list of current medications and your patient registration form if you have completed it in advance.
Your visit may include pupil-dilating eye drops, especially when assessing conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma or diabetic eye disease. Dilation can blur vision and increase light sensitivity, so we recommend arranging transport and bringing sunglasses.
Accounts are issued on the day of your visit, and payment is expected on the day of consultation, excluding surgery accounts. Some tests may have out-of-pocket costs, and we will communicate these costs before testing where they apply.
