Oculoplastics
We provide specialist assessment for eyelid and oculoplastic concerns, including functional eyelid issues and lashes that irritate the eye, with care tailored to your diagnosis and needs.
Care for eyelid and eye surface concerns
Oculoplastics is the area of ophthalmology that deals with the eyelids and nearby structures around the eye. Eyelid position, lid movement, lash direction and irritation can affect comfort, vision and the health of the eye surface.
We assess eyelid concerns with a careful eye examination and consider how the eyelids interact with the surface of the eye. Dr Hakki Semerli has a confirmed clinical focus in eyelid procedures, and you can learn more about his background on Dr Hakki Semerli.
Because eyelid symptoms may overlap with other eye conditions, we may also consider the cornea, tear film and general eye health during your visit. Related care may include corneal conditions or broader ophthalmology services, depending on your referral and findings.
A clear plan before treatment is considered
Your oculoplastic consultation may include discussion of your symptoms, review of your referral, vision assessment and examination of the eyelids and eye surface. We look at whether the issue is affecting comfort, vision, daily activities or the health of the eye.
Some patients are referred for eyelid position concerns, ongoing irritation, lid abnormalities or lashes that turn inward and rub against the eye. Lash laser epilation for trichiasis is available onsite when clinically appropriate, although treatment suitability depends on specialist assessment.
If an eyelid procedure is recommended, your surgeon will explain why it is being considered, what alternatives may apply and what risks are relevant to your situation. To prepare for your visit, please review our contact and appointment information and bring a current referral from your GP or optometrist. You may also wish to read about our services and surgeons.
Specialist care guided by careful assessment
Our ophthalmologists bring focused medical and surgical training to patient care. For eyelid concerns, we consider both the symptom that brought you in and the wider health of your eye.
