Refractive & Injections
We provide specialist assessment for focusing concerns and in-clinic intraocular injections for selected retinal and macular conditions, with care tailored to your diagnosis, vision needs and referral.
Clear advice before any treatment
Refractive concerns can affect how clearly you see at distance, near or both. We provide specialist assessment to help understand the cause of focusing problems and whether a refractive treatment pathway may be appropriate for your eyes.
Because refractive treatments are not suitable for every patient, we take a careful, assessment-led approach. Your eye health, prescription, medical history and expectations all matter. If cataract or lens-related changes are part of the picture, we may also discuss related care such as cataract surgery and intraocular lens planning.
Intraocular injections are also available in clinic for selected retinal and macular conditions. These may be relevant for patients receiving care for macular degeneration or diabetic eye disease, depending on their diagnosis and specialist recommendation.
In-clinic injections for selected conditions
Intraocular injections deliver medication into the eye for selected retinal and macular conditions. Suitability, medicine choice and treatment frequency depend on your diagnosis, retinal findings and how your eye responds over time.
We understand that many patients feel anxious about eye injections. We explain why treatment has been recommended, what your appointment may involve and what ongoing monitoring means. Patients with retinal concerns may also need related care such as retinal surgery, macular degeneration treatment or broader diabetic eye disease management.
If you are already receiving injections elsewhere or have been newly referred, please bring your current referral, Medicare card, relevant health cards, private insurance card if applicable and a list of current medications.

Your appointment is planned carefully
Your first appointment may include a detailed eye examination, imaging or other testing depending on your referral and symptoms. Pupil-dilating drops are commonly used, so you should allow up to 2 hours for your visit.
Dilation can blur vision and increase light sensitivity. We recommend that you do not drive yourself after the appointment. If you do need to drive later, allow 1 to 2 hours and bring sunglasses.
We work closely with referring GPs and optometrists, and we provide timely communication about patient progress. If your care involves another condition, you may also find our pages on glaucoma care, corneal conditions and our services helpful before your visit.
